We are some of the strongest rowers in the Channel
Islands and between us currently hold more than 30 Off-Shore Rowing Records,
including international records. We have a combined off-shore rowing experience
of 40 years between us.
We have rowed in rough seas around the islands for years, and know the
conditions that the sea can throw at a boat. We believe this puts us in
strong contention for the Atlantic women’s fours title as other women’s
teams are primarily river rowers - quite a different type of rowing, in
comparatively tame conditions.
We will all be undertaking a comprehensive regime of training. This will
include each of us working on our strength, endurance, core stability,
aerobic fitness as well as psychological techniques such as visualisation.
This regime is specifically designed to increase our physical and mental
readiness for the challenge ahead.
During the 2005 Guernsey Off-Shore rowing season we will be competing again
with the Guernsey Rowing Club but will be adding endurance training and
extra mileage to our usual regimes. This will include blocks of days spent
out at sea, living in, and testing out, what will become our home for the
two months we will spend crossing the Atlantic. |
